Tridents QB #10 Louie Peter started off well as he led the Tridents offense down into the redzone, courtesy of gashing runs by RB #5 Seth Ng, and picks by CB # 24 Carmen “The Island” Peter and LB #12 that gave the Tridents favorable field positions. THU’s Defensive unit, led by no other than QB/S #7 Shahir Khalid and WR/LB #80 “Air Force One” Razeen Khalid kept the Tridents out of the endzone during the first drive. This made it seem like the game was set to be a low scoring affair with the score being 8-6 at the half.
An interception by LB #12 Leon Tham was crucial as the Tridents offense capitalized off a 5 yard dump-off TD pass to the returning RB #8 Alvin “The Boy Wonder” Ong, with the team from Subang Jaya drawing first blood.
THU showed everyone in attendance the poise of a champion as WR #84 Ashraf Rusli kept his focus, capitalizing on a mistake by Trident’s rookie CB #80 Jon Galan, and evened up the score. THU would then convert a 2-point try, with THU going up 8-6 at the half.
In the second half the Trident’s defensive unit made their mark, pinning THU’s offense inside their own 10 and forcing them to punt the ball. That was the start of the Peter Brothers Show as QB #10 [called a HB pass thrown by RB #8 Alvin “The Boy Wonder” Ong that went for 54 yards with Heidy Yusoff (WR #20) hauling it in just a yard shy of the TD. Not one to leave business unfinished, he made a diving catch for the TD when Louie Peter threaded the needle into the endzone. This proved to be the final lead changing score of the game.
CB #24 Carmen Peter intercepted a pass meant for WR #80 Razeen “Air Force One” Khalid returning it about 15 yards allowing his brother to slot in a beautifully positioned ball for another TD that allowed Heidy Yusoff to display his awareness by making a diving sideline catch. {another pass to Heidy Yusoff for a TD. Carmen Peter would intercept the ball one more time, putting the game on ice, handing the defending champs their first loss in tournament.
